I am sitting here, TOTALLY blown away right now. I have been totally blessed in the last couple of weeks and I am amazed at how much things can change when you let go of the past, try to stay positive and look to the future!
The blog has been quite for the last little while as I have been incredibly busy. Busy doing what you might ask – well, I’m glad you asked, cause I’d love to tell you! A little while ago I was asked by my church to come on staff one day a week to do design work. I was more than happy to accept and have been super busy planning things, designing things, spending time with great church people, and of late, Christmasing it up preparing for my favourite time of year. There are also some big and exciting new things happening in my church in the new year and I have been asked to help plan and prepare for those also, so I have been volunteering my time towards that as well.
As part of these changes the church office is having a reshuffle of staff and as of last Friday I am now also the PA to the Senior Pastor for a day a week. I am excited about this as I feel I can help out a lot. My organisational skills and love of planning are going to come in handy. The position will not only be a help to the church, but it is an answer to prayer. I have been needing more work from somewhere, something to help pay the bills, but not take up all my time so there is none left to build my own business. It’s great, it means I will be getting out of the house more, mixing with people, great people in an environment that is understanding of my physical and emotional limitations. It’s quite perfect really!
Speaking of getting out of the house more and mixing with great people, last week I had the unexpected opportunity to hang out with quite a few of my favourite people. First off on Wednesday I discovered that my lovely online friend Suger was in town. So I whipped out my phone to see if there was a time we could meet up and meet in person finally. Turns out she was staying with Dani and we arranged to have dinner the next night. The girls invited a couple of their bloggy friends who lived locally and Natalie and Leigh joined us. It was so lovely to meet them all [I had only met Dani previously] and spend sometime late night shopping with other fuller figure ladies. We also had a super yummy dinner at a new-to-me Mexican restaurant called Tequila’s on Main in Rouse Hill. Great food, great laughs and a great time – even if I did stab myself on a sticking out screw on my chair! It felt so great to be out on a “school” night which rarely happens for me. It felt great to meet new people and feel like one of the girls, and it felt great to just have some fun!
Then on Saturday I had planned to go shopping with one of fab friends from church. I was telling her about the amazing shopping centre I had been to on Thursday night at Rouse Hill [more on that later] and we decided to go there. It was going to be the two of us, and her little munchkin-cutie-pie little girl, but then another friend came along, and another and another. It was a great afternoon of Christmas shopping, browsing and chatting. I think we must have visited Typo about 3 times, and of course KikkiK was a must stop at. Again I felt so blessed to be part of a group, one of the girls, just having fun and hanging out. It doesn’t happen often for me, but it seems to be becoming a much more frequent occurrence which I am loving!!
Sunday marked 1 year since I started going to my church. It has made me look back and reflect on how much has changed in my life since this time last year. I don’t feel like the same person. I am SO much more happy, I am more at peace and I am more healed inside and out than I have been for many, many years! It is truly an amazing feeling. I have felt so blessed over the last little while… and then today was totally the icing on the cake!
Today has been an amazing day. I woke up to find my clothes from the States had arrived [more later], then I got a surprise gift from my beloved KikkiK [more later] so I was feeling pretty great! But then something truly mind blowing happened…
Yesterday I had posted on Facebook that I desperately needed to go to the hairdresser and wished that it wasn’t so expensive. Then this morning I woke up to find an amazing online offer for a colour, treatment and cut at a local salon and thought, “hmmm that’s great, but I’m still not sure if I can afford it”. Then this afternoon I got an amazing email from a friend in California telling me she had transferred funds into my PayPal account so I could go and get my hair done. I mean wow! Who does that? I’m still blown away by her generosity and CAN”T WAIT to go and get my hair done!!!
Things are good for me right now. Things are so good! I feel like I should pinch myself, but if it is a dream, I don’t want to wake up! I am so grateful for all the blessings in my life right now!
