Since starting to send postcards through Postcrossing, I have been on the lookout for some great postcards. I have bought a bunch of the usual tourist type postcards which people enjoy, but I wanted something more, something different – I’m just like that!
I had ordered the Pantone postcards online a number of weeks ago, only to later discover they had sold out and refunded my order. Then when I was in Canberra last week I stopped in at my fave little bookshop, and was at the check out and spotted the Pantone box and was so excited that I bought them on the spot! Each card is a single Pantone colour. There are 100 postcards and it is a complete dream for the designer in me!
There is just about every shade of colour you can imagine.
I also found a great book of postcards featuring the artwork of Rex Ray. I hadn’t actually heard of Rex Ray before, but he is a San Francisco – based artist and graphic designer whose work is very modernist in style. I love that he uses various coloured wood textures within his work!
I love all of these postcards so much, that I’m not sure I can bring myself to part with them! Oh dear!
I also decided to design some postcards myself and have them printed through my favourite online printer Moo.com. These cards have a decidedly Australian theme for all those Postcrossers who want a postcard “from my country”. Here are some of my designs.
