Those of you who read my blog regularly would know that I have been on a surgery waiting list for a while. If you don’t know about this and want the back story, read this post here. So, finally, FINALLY after months of tests, uncertainty and waiting, I got a phone call yesterday letting me know that the surgery is booked for August 10th!
I am so relieved to finally have a time fixed, a solid goal to fix my mind’s eye to. The whole horrible gastric band issue has just dragged on and on for years and to finally know it will be removed and this area of my life will go back to some sort of normalcy is beyond exciting! I can’t wait to be on the other side of the op and be able to eat red meat again, eat rice, and bread and pasta and all the foods that now get painfully stuck if I eat them.
Also when I had the band put in there were issues with the wound healing and a haematoma formed. It meant six weeks of having the band packed and dressed every day. I am a little scared this will happen again and surgery itself is a little scary. I’m nervous and excited all at once. Oh and I am really not looking forward to being on a protein shake diet for the couple of weeks leading up to the operation… yuck!
Above all, I am thankful to God for His faithfulness and guidance throughout this whole process. I have learned a lot about depending on Him during this ordeal. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger and brighter as each day comes!
Thank you to all of you how have offered your kind words and support in the last few weeks as I have been more open and public with my story and struggles. It’s not over yet, but I feel this is a huge step forward!
